Tamara Behler is not only a talented vocalist, but also a graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music (UMFC) in Warsaw, where she studied cello. Although her formal education focused on classical music, her deep passion for jazz led her toward vocal expression. About her debut album, she writes: “My first album is a journey — for me, a deeply personal one. For the first time, I bring together two parts of myself that have long existed separately: my classical training as a cellist and my need to express myself through singing. I play and sing — simultaneously. It’s both a huge challenge and an immense joy. In terms of sound, it’s a blend of jazz, world music, classical influences, and elements of Slavic folklore. My album defies categorization — it floats between styles. And I feel good about that.” The album features compositions by Michał Salamon, Piotr Matusik, Grzech Piotrowski, Arcadius Mauritz, and Shachar Elnatan. Their music inspired Tamara to explore entirely new sonic landscapes — spaces where she feels free and finally confident in expressing herself through music. She collaborates with notable artists such as Urszula Dudziak, Ewa Bem, the World Orchestra of Grzech Piotrowski, the Alchemik Big Band, Rewia Burleski, and Borys Szyc. Her rare ability to sing while playing the cello adds a captivating dimension to her live performances — making them not only musically rich but also visually compelling.
