Grzech Piotrowski Quartet

Grzech Piotrowski Quartet

SHACHAR ELNATAN / PETER SOMOS / PIOTR MATUSIK vs TAMARA BEHLER

Music is vibration — a universal language flowing from every corner of the globe, from every culture, from every heart. The Grzech Piotrowski Quartet is a borderless ensemble that invites you into a world of open improvisation and musical landscapes, balancing on the edge of jazz, film music, and world music.

During performances, Grzech Piotrowski reveals the full sonic potential of the saxophone, painting vivid soundscapes. His distinctive tone has become his signature. He also incorporates looping and sound effects, blending them with unconventional elements like bells, rattles, and even his own voice. The soundscape he creates is enriched by outstanding improvisers who accompany him on stage: guitarist Shachar Elnatan, percussionist Péter Somos, pianist Piotr Matusik, and vocalist-cellist Tamara Behler.

Guitarist Shachar Elnatan is one of the most outstanding instrumentalists of the young Israeli jazz scene. Despite his young age, he has already collaborated with musicians from around the world, including Avishai Cohen, Ravi Coltrane, Kellylee Evans, Aaron Goldberg, Trilok Gurtu, Eli Degibri, and many others. His musical education began at the age of six, guided by his father, while his American mother — a country violinist — introduced him to the worlds of jazz and rock.

Péter Somos - a percussionist born in Budapest, began his professional music career at the age of 14. He is a graduate of Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam. Throughout his career, he has recorded and performed with artists such as Casey Benjamin, Mahesh Vinayakram, Nadishana, Sharrie Williams, Besh o droM, Krzysztof Ścierański, Ralph Kaminski, Petra Nachtmanová, Guy Bernfeld, Sylvain Barou, and many more. He has appeared at major festivals including Sziget (HU), Exit (SR), WOMADelaide (AUS), Męskie Granie, Jamboree, Open'er (PL), Südtirol Jazz (IT), JodhpurRIFF, Kolkata Jazz (IN), Shanghai World Music (CN), Jeju World Music (KR), Dubai Blues (UAE), and Nebraska Crossroads (US).

Tamara Behler is not only a gifted vocalist but also a graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, with a degree in cello. Though her academic background is rooted in classical music, her deep passion for jazz has led her to explore vocal expression in a more contemporary context.

Piotr Matusik is a pianist, keyboardist, and composer. A graduate of the Jazz Department at the Academy of Music in Katowice, he studied piano under Professor Wojciech Niedziela, with whom he has been performing as a piano duo since October 2015. He is a recipient of the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage’s “Young Poland” award (2019).
